Im Back!

Alright folks, it's official! I'm back to blogging! After loosing a rediculous amount of pictures and 2 travel journals, I have decided that the more places I can store my memories, the better. Additionally, a lot of crazy and life changing things have happened to me in my travels that I am getting kind of sick of telling people about, so maybe this is the alternative (only kidding... well sorta). Not to meansion that I have met quite a few people who have been travelling and blogging for years and are now funding their travels almost entirely through their blogs. They have encouraged me to start working on my blog again and have pointed out that there is a severe lack of teenaged girls travelling solo around the world and that maybe all they need is a role model... so here I am!

Since my last post in Mexico over 2 months ago, I have explored ancient Mayan Ruin sites such as Chichen Itza and Tikal, studied spanish in the Guatemalan highlands near the world famous Lake Atitlan, Gone Scuba Diving in the Caribean Bay Islands in Honduras (and gotten eaten alive by sandflies while camping without a tent on a deserted island nearby), had a significant amount of skin shredded from my leg while volcano Boarding down the worlds second youngest volcano, and have trekked accross volcanos and swam in Volcanic lakes with Quetzeltrekkers in Nicaragua. Now, I am in Costa Rica and after spending a month in the Nicoya Peninsula, having 2 cameras stolen and getting rice thrown at me by psycotic monkeys, (wow... im really not selling this whole travel thing am I? I swear, they were all good experiences...) I am in San Jose, waiting for my new camera to arrive in the mail (Thanks to my dad and brother back home) and my new adventures to begin.

Montezuma Beach where I spend a great deal of my time this last month

Oh yes... speaking of new adventures... I have changed my mind again (anybody surprised???) and will not be heading down to South America, but will instead be spending the rest of my time before returning to Canada exploring more of Central America (assuming the plan doesn't change again). I figure I have my whole life ahead of me to travel other places and that theres no point in rushing through some places only to see a glimpse of others. Spending a month in one place and getting to just chill for a while was refreshing and exactly what I needed to get fired up to go again.... though amazingly somehow in that whole month, I only really got around to washing my clothes once... at the beginning. Yes folks, I have been wearing the same 3 shirts and 2 pairs of shorts for a month straight without washing them for no reason other than that I didnt want to and I am damn proud of it! I did however buy a full sized towel.... ohhhh the luxury!

Just for fun, here are some random pictures from my ipod of my travels:

The view from a restraunt in San Pedro where I studied spanish

Some super stoked kids and an old man that sold blankets that I brought up to the field with me to play soccer. The flat dirt behind us is the best field in the area and is just a tuk tuk ride from town centre. Excuse the thumb in the corner lol

One of my only remaining pictures of Tikal, the rest were lost with my camera in Costa Rica.
Near Fores Guatemala. Currently consitered one of the most dangerous places in Guatemala by the Canadian Government, but had no problems whatsoever.

Waiting for dinner to be served at Luz en el Cielo Hostel Christmas Day

My leg after wiping out volcano boarding down Cerro Negro near Leon in Nicaragua. Literally had my head shoved into the side of the volcano 5 times before I stopped, found my board, and kept going...

My favorite photo of the entire trip so far. Taken while out for a run in Playa del Carmen Mexico as a storm was approaching.

Some awesome kids I met while staying with my cousin in Cobano Costa Rica. They called me "Keen" because they couldnt say "Kaitlin" We hung out all day everyday for at least a week and played soccer, played basketball, climbed trees, caught bugs, and the girl Michelle was my private Spanish teacher... she even gave me homework!! Their Auntie usually came along too, and their mom owned the panderia (bakery) so I got free bread and cake and extremely sweet coffee all day!
